Stuart "Stu" VanMeveren served as the elected District Attorney for the Eighth Judicial District of Colorado for 32 years. Stu has also been elected to many other positions including: President of the Larimer County Bar Association; President of the Colorado District Attorneys Council on two separate occasions: Senior Vice President of the Colorado Bar Association; and President of the National District Attorneys Association, a national organization of more than 10,000 prosecutors from throughout the country. He also served as Chairman of the Board of that organization. In addition, he serves or has served on numerous national, state, and local associations and organizations. Stu is one of the most experienced trial attorneys in Northern Colorado. He has represented the People of the State of Colorado in hundreds of criminal trials and hearings. He has also negotiated the settlement of numerous cases while serving eight four-year terms of office as the District Attorney. Stu has now returned to the private practice of law joining the VanMeveren Law Group where he can utilize his vast experience as a prosecutor in the setting of a private law office. He is presently President of the Fort Collins Country Club and serves on the Board of Directors of the Poudre Valley Health System.
