Driving is a privilege, not a right. The majority of drivers in Colorado pay attention to the rules of the road and do what they can to avoid an accident. Unfortunately, there are those who, for whatever reason, ignore the rules of the road and sometimes cause car accidents as a result.
A Colorado woman was killed in a head on collision when an SUV struck her Subaru as the SUV driver was attempting to pass another vehicle. According to authorities, the woman died at the scene. Reportedly, she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The driver of the SUV was treated and released at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida.
Authorities suspect drugs were a factor in the crash. It has not been reported whether charges have been, or will be filed against the driver of the Chevy. Either way, the family of the deceased woman is now left to deal with her loss.
Car accidents rarely just touch the people involved in them. Often their effects are felt like ripples in water. One person's bad decisions may not only change the course of their life, but also the lives of people around them. Because of the alleged actions of the driver of the Chevy, there is now a family having to bury their loved one and find a way to repair, or just learn to live with, the damage this accident and her subsequent death caused. When the family has had time to recover from the shock of her death and learn the final results of the police investigation, they may want to seek advice on filing a wrongful death action against any party whose actions are deemed to have negligently caused the tragic fatality.
