Colorado consumers may want to carefully take note of a recent recall of a large quantity of precooked meats. A recent report identifies around 35,000 pounds of meat, including beef, pork and chicken, that has been recalled due to possible Listeria contamination. The potentially dangerous product was shipped throughout the United States, and the manufacturer is urging consumers to take note of the recalled product information.
According to the report, consumers should be on the lookout for packages of precooked meats from LJD Holdings, Inc., which operates as B and D Foods. The recall includes products including 10-lb. boxes of tempura chicken, 10-lb. boxes of parmesan chicken breasts, 30-lb. boxes of pork strips, and others. Colorado consumers may particularly want to be aware of the 10-lb. boxes which contain two 5-lb. packages of royal tempura chicken bearing the product number A-4615, as these were definitely shipped to foodservice providers and institutional customers in Colorado.
Though these packages are designed for food service or institutional locations, the Listeria contamination could be dangerous for any consumer dining at these locations, or purchasing meats from stores which sell them. Reports state that, so far, no illnesses have been reported in direct relation to the contamination. However, it is noted that due to the nature of tracing food borne illnesses, it may not be possible to conclude that no one has become ill due to the product.
Consumers in Colorado who believe that they have ingested this potentially dangerous product should seek medical attention immediately. It may also benefit these consumers to consider their options under our state's products liability laws. By maintaining stable records of any illness associated with ingesting these precooked meats, and by being proactive in securing guidance, consumers may be able to seek damages from the manufacturer to help them financially recover from their illness.
