When crashes happen, they can take the lives of people of all ages. Young children, the elderly, teens and adults all face a potentially fatal injury. That’s why it’s so important for people to pay attention when they’re on the roads. Not doing so can result in fatalities.
That may have been what led to this crash. The fatal crash in Lakewood resulted in the death of a woman and child, according to local news. Initial reports stated that only the woman had passed, but updates revealed that the child also passed away after being taken to the hospital.
The police in Lakewood are investigating the crash, which left five vehicles wrecked. The chain-reaction crash injured the little boy above, who had to be flown to Children’s Hospital. His injuries resulted in his death.
The crash, which took place at around 7:17 a.m., happened when a man hit the tail-end of a car that was stopped at a traffic light on West Alameda Avenue. The man’s vehicle hit so hard that three other vehicles were also hit. The car hit by the man’s truck contained the woman and child.
On West Alameda Avenue, the speed limit is 45 mph. Even going the speed limit, this kind of damage could be possible, the Lakewood police spokesman reported.
